Remembering

As a Christian minister, I help people recall their own narrative.  How a person has arrived at the particular point they are in their life's journey is important for assessing where they are going.  How do you use the power of memory in your everyday life?  Memories, and the spiritual act of remembering, are important--but also, at times, our memories can cripple our ability to move forward. Sometimes the past seems like the best of times--and nothing in the future seems like it can match what our memory recalls.  At other moments, the past memories are so painful that we enter our future with trepidation and hesitation. I'm interested in knowing what types of current traditions people have in remembering the stories of their life and the people of their life on this Memorial Day weekend.  Does the weekend hold significance for you?
